I can’t believe how many TMS babies there are now. Crazy! Congratulations, everyone!
I’m back in DC after a year in Ohio working on a (successful) Senate race. I started a consulting business in February, so I’m officially an entrepreneur now. And, I suppose, a political hack — I help Democratic campaigns and PACs with campaign finance compliance and reporting. Otherwise, not much going on… If any of you are in the Baltimore/Washington area, give me a shout — judy.zamore@gmail.com.
Cheers!

Since I last wrote, I too had a baby. Truman is now 10 months old — an awesome age if you like scrapping food off the walls, changing diapers on a walking baby, and disobeying every rule on how to place a child in a shopping cart. Just today I caught Truman with two dice in his mouth, one in each cheek, and a handful of poker chips. I am not neglectful, I just turned my head for 30 seconds. In all my free time (ahhhemm) I like to sit, watch a commercial, maybe two, and contemplate baby harnesses online. I’m getting active in the garden, experimenting with how to keep female dogs from peeing on our grass. My best success is walking the dogs over to neighbor’s yards. John is a keen father, keen on teaching Truman how to climb up stairs and throw tennis balls. Apart from Truman’s daily acheivements, our life is happily boring. I can’t figure out how to upload a photo but our website is very…comprehensive (and sympathetic? for new moms if you check out the posts).

Hey - Hope everyone is doing well. I had a big year - bought a house in Boulder, CO in November, got married New Years Eve up in the mtns near our home, and had a baby girl, Avery Rose, in May. She’s a little fireball, so fun! Although my main focus in life is Avery right now, I’m scheming a green building kids book and doing a little green remodeling consulting on the side. OK - baby calls so all for now…

Hi Everyone,
We are great. I finished up my PhD last Feb. , and after much prodding, did the full MIT graduation parade in June. I started a post-doctoral fellowship at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences in May. I am studying how ocean acidification resulting from CO2 emissions will alter calcification in the ocean. In other words - Will we still have molluks and coral reefs in the future.
We also took some time to take a trip around the world in 14 days. The kind of maniac travelling we love but will not be able to do once our new baby arrives in December. The trip was great. Saw some amazing sites, some friends and family we had not seen in a while, and ate a lof of excellent food.
But, the baby is definitely more exciting. We can’t wait for his arrival and hope that he will be friends with May P. and Truman Barbie (Ruth’s little guy) who both look absolutely adorable. Are there other F93 babies out there?
I will be in NY for a while this fall, starting in early October. It would be great to see any of you who are there.

Martha reminds me that for all the cajoling I’m doing, I haven’t said anything about what I’m up to.
I’m pretty much the same: living in Brooklyn, working in my studio most days on the same sorts of projects I’ve been working on for the past few years: art and architecture books, print design for museums and non-profits, etc. Recently I’ve started teaching myself how to program for the web. I’ve been doing some interactive work lately for which I have to hire a programmer, and an overwhelming desire for self-sufficience has led me down this road. Turns out I’m really enjoying myself, and I’m hoping this will open up a lot more different kinds of projects to me… specifically I’m interested in doing more work that more directly participates in the political process, or social change more generally. Art books are fun, but they don’t feel like the legacy I’m hoping for.
I’ve also continued to work on videos of my own, including a 40 person extravaganza that I roped people into helping me with instead of throwing a thirtieth birthday party. Bruce was kind enough to participate. I just received a small stipend to hire a composer to write the score for it. I’ll post it here when it’s complete.
After the jump I’ll put a few pictures from the recent past.

Hello! I received my PhD in Anthropology/Archaeology from Brown University this past May and am starting my new academic job as the Associate Director of Environmental Studies and Lecturer in the Environmental, Earth and Ocean Sciences at University of Massachusetts Boston in September. For my first semester I will be teaching undergraduate seminars in Historic Environments and in Environmental Policy while in the spring I will be teaching a large student lecture course in the Nature of Environmental Problems. My archaeological field project continues to go smoothly. This summer we excavated among other fascinating artifacts, a 1760s Irish coin and Dutch and French pottery fragments indicating global ties and environmental impacts from our site. I have moved to a lovely apartment in Cambridge and look forward to hanging out with Boston area TMS alums!

Doug now lives in Brooklyn (down the street from Sloate) after spending most of the last 8 years downtown in Manhattan, got married last Fall, finished law school at Fordham this past Spring, and just started a 2 year judicial clerkship in the Southern District of NY. Doug states that Jack Kruse has attempted to play footsie with him under the partition of several airport restroom stalls throughout the midwest. While he likes the attention, he thinks it may be inappropriate.

I have joined the ranks of the East Coast Alumni! I moved to Somerville MA in August. Driving across the country with my girlfriend Christy, we
hopped from National Park to Park, spending 3 weeks and 5800 miles on
the road. While Christy goes to school, I will be helping to maintain
and grow the virtual reality of Second Life from my new job as a Systems
Engineer at Linden Lab in Cambridge. I’m really excited to be living in
the East! (Find pictures on http://flickr.com/photos/maplebed)

Greg and I are great — we’re now parents! I’ve attached a photo of May Alice Parzych. She was born on March 21st.
We’re now in Southington, where Greg is working for my family’s fruit growing business (he’s at work, on the tractor as I type). I’m taking the year off from teaching to be with May.
Sorry so brief, May is getting bored with her baby gym thingy.
Best,
Martha
